I lived in Chicago for almost 15 years. I’ve been influenced by big city style and fashion. My wardrobe at one time consisted of an “urban uniform” of only black, white and camel colored items. However, since moving to Louisville almost 10 years ago and being immersed into southern culture, I have come to appreciate and embrace a preppy influence in my look. Nowadays my style is a combo of gritty street wear and preppy colorful prints. In Louisville, I lean into my “urban uniform” of neutrals in the fall and winter and colorful preppy ensembles for spring and summer. In many instances I combine both styles into one look year round. Here is one of my favorite fall looks. In Chicago I would pair the outfit with chunky black block heel booties or tall boots. However, in Louisville, a preppy colorful loafer brings a touch of south into my northern city look. Also to note, in Chicago, you could not get away with wearing a loafer bare foot in November. However, in Louisville, the weather permits this shoe to be worn this late in the year.
