Dry Shampoo Review

Batiste Instant Hair Refresh Dry Shampoo vs. Not Your Mother’s Plump for Joy Body Building Dry Shampoo

My hair routine is arduous.  I have long, thick, naturally curly hair that of course, I want to wear straight.  A typical wash, dry, straighten and style takes me 45 min start to finish.  Which is why I extend my hair wash days as long as possible.  One way I get away with washing my hair every 4-5 days is by using dry shampoo.  I’ve used expensive hair salon brand dry shampoos, but always go back to the brands I find at Target.  The two brands I’ve used recently are Batiste and Not Your Mother’s dry shampoo.  Here is my brand battle dry shampoo review.

Brand Battle:

Round 8:

The Gloves Are Off (Personal Review)

The powder component in this product leaves hair feeling a little chalky and any over spray will cover every surface near where you spray.  It does well absorbing grease and comes in several scents that smell good.

No powdery residue.  Spray volumizes hair and absorbs grease without any chalky residue.  Comes in several scents that smell good.

On paper alone the Not Your Mother’s brand knocks out the Batiste brand based on price point, amount of ingredients (I always feel the less ingredients to anything the better) and that it’s made in the USA.  However, on functionality and usage, Mother’s provides the knock-out punch.  Not Your Mother’s Plump for Joy Body Building Dry Shampoo does a better job with volumizing & absorbing without leaving any residue in your hair or on your counter tops.

  1. Hello Tami,

This is some very insightful information here. I have always used Batiste especially because you can get the really big bottles at TJ MAXX for $8.99 and they really go a long way. I do however hate the chalky residue that is left in my hair especially if I get a trigger finger and spray too much. I will definitely have to give this new brand a try!

Let me know what you think of the Mother’s brand after you try it. It’s certainly my go to brand. Plus made in the USA. Who can argue with that? The Mother’s brand will def be less mess for you especially since you struggle with an itchy trigger finger. wink.
