Designer. Expensive. Luxurious. I’m talking about the Gucci Jordaan and Brixton leather loafers. These shoes are iconic, timeless and classic. What comes with that trifecta of near perfection is a whopping price tag (to the tune of $700 gulp!) Are you the person on team “no way I’m spending that much on a pair of designer shoes!” Or team “I invest in designer pieces and must have them so they will be mine”? The Gucci loafers are next level comfortable, have zero break in time and are well made from a world famous luxury designer. They are also a designer shoe that never goes out of style and can be worn forever. All of those reason are why I spent over a year researching the loafers (and selling my stuff on eBay to save up the money to buy them). I took time in trying to decide which style and color I wanted to invest in between the Brixton and Jordaan (I guess you can figure out what team I’m on). I ultimately purchased a pair of Gucci Jordaan loafers in black and they are gorgeous. Interestingly, while I was researching the luxury designer shoe I came across a pair of loafers that are NEAR IDENTICAL to the the Gucci Jordaan and Brixton loafers and have a much MUCH more reasonable price point. Now that I have them both, I cannot deny that the shoes are the absolute best Gucci loafer dupes ever! Sam Edelman Loraine Bit Loafer
The Sam Edelman Loraine bit loafers have the same classic loafer style made with quality leather that is soft and pliable. They also have zero break in time and are even adorned with a similar horse bit detailing and come in many colors. If you love the classic Gucci loafer but just can’t swallow the price tag then these are your shoes! The absolute best Gucci loafer dupes I’ve seen, worn and owned. I have ONE pair of Gucci loafers and SEVERAL pair of the dupes and I may even go out on a limb and just say it…….the dupes are BETTER (gasp!!!!).
Gucci Loafers Are Amazing
Don’t get me wrong. I’m ecstatic about owning a pair of Gucci Jordaan loafers and let’s face it, when I wear them I feel nothing short of amazing because the loafers are just that, AH-MAZE-ING. They are 100% luxury and are top notch from the design, designer, construction, history, popularity and notoriety. If there is any downside it’s the cost which is why I claimed earlier that the Sam Edelman loafers are “BETTER”. I know, I know! Just keep reading!
Better Than Gucci?
OK, let me clarify! They are not ‘better’ in name but better in wearability. When I wear my Gucci loafers I am careful and conscious about the weather outside, where I’m going in them, if there is a possibility they will get dirty, stepped on, scuffed, wet, etc. It’s so stressful! I don’t take lightly spending that much money on anything, let alone a single pair of shoes, a tote or a piece of jewelry so it’s on my mind to take extra good care of designer wares with a higher price point. When I wear my Gucci loafers I have to plan out when I wear the shoes. That’s a lot of energy to put into wearing any pair of shoes. This is not the case with the Sam Edelman loafers. I wear the Sam Edelman loafers anywhere, anytime and don’t worry about them getting dirty, damaged or wet. I guess that is the difference between a $100 pair of leather shoes and a $700 pair of leather shoes!
The loafers are nearly identical in fit and comfort. Equally sophisticated and both have soft leather that is high quality. They both look and feel equally expensive. Both have almond toe shape and a .5 high heel. The only noticeable difference is the horse bit detail. Otherwise, the Sam Edelman loafers are near perfect Gucci loafer dupes. Both fit TTS and have ZERO break in time.
Similar from all angles whether it be from the top, bottom or side show that the shoes are very similar. These are the absolute best best Gucci loafer dupes you will find to equal in comfort, no break in time and similarity.
Packaging
The Sam Edelman Loraine loafers are great Gucci loafer dupes and are far more practical and budget friendly. The biggest difference (other than the price) is the packaging. The Sam Edelman shoes come in a regular ole’ shoe box just like any other. However, the designer Gucci Jordaan loafers come with iconic Gucci branded dust covers, a Gucci labeled shoe box, a Gucci bag with everything artisan ally wrapped in heavy weighted tissue and thick black ribbon. You also get a small paper “wallet” to hold your receipt. Not sure the purpose of that but for the price of the shoes, I’ll take whatever they give me with the purchase!

Gucci Jordaan Vs. Brixton Loafer
I mentioned earlier that I spent months going back and forth debating which style Gucci loafer I wanted. The Brixton or The Jordaan so let me help with sorting out the difference between the two. Anytime I was near a Gucci store (there isn’t one in Louisville) I went in and tried them both on. I ultimately decided to get the Gucci Jordaan loafer. The biggest difference of the two loafers are that the Brixton has a foldable collapsible heel so it can be worn as a loafer or a mule and the leather is softer and more pliable. They are both fabulous and I’m sure I would have been happy with either style. I chose the Jordaan because I did not want the collapsible heel option and worried about the softer leather getting scratched and creased easier.

Seatsaver And Showstopper
If the Gucci loafers are out of reach (they are budget busters) then grab yourself a pair (or two) of the Sam Edelman Loraine loafers. I have several pair I’ve collected while I researched getting the Gucci loafers. Now that I have both shoes, I’m more often grabbing my Sam Edelman loafers! You just can’t get a more similar shoe to the designer Gucci shoe. I love and cherish my Gucci Jordaan loafers and wear the timeless treasures as often as I can. However, my Sam Edelman loafers are worn more often because they are simply more practical, I worry far less about them in regards to getting wet or dirty. The Sam Edelman loafers are the best Gucci loafer dupe but if you find yourself in the position to own a pair of designer shoes that won’t ever go out of style, are timeless and classic. The Sam Edelman loafer is a great seat saver but the Gucci loafer is and always will be the showstopper.
