DYSON PURE HOT + COOL REVIEW

A review of the Dyson pure hot + cool.  I know, I know.  $500 for a fan seems totally reDONKulous.  Yes, the price tag is cringe worthy but it’s not JUST an air purifier or JUST a space heater or JUST a fan.  It’s all three.  Three functions in one with several useful technologies incorporated within.  To name a few it has WIFI connectivity, an app to control, schedule and monitor remotely, night mode and a remote control.  I have always been a believer in “you get what you pay for” so I’m banking that the DYSON company has made a product that is highly functional AND will last a very long time.  Based on my initial assessment after having the fan for a couple months it’s living up to it’s investment already and is actually SAVING ME MONEY!

Did you say $500? (gasp)

Yup, it’s a large pill to swallow but think of it this way.  You’re getting three high quality machines in one (air purifier, heater, fan) in addition to several very functional extras.  Sure, there are other options that cost less.  Here are some reasons why I went with this one:

It’s only ONE – I don’t want to move, store, mess with three separate devices.  I can take this one small unit from room to room or from house to house (yes, this will be going with me on trips) easily.  Instead of three clunky machines to purify, heat or cool the room, with this machine I need only one.

It works better – I’ve never had a fan or space heater that works better.  It states it heats and cools a room up to 800 sq feet, however, it heats and cools a space much larger than it suggests. Bonus here is that its a fan, heater AND air purifier all in one that ALL work better.  The air purifier removes 99.97% of pollutants and allergens from the air.  It’s a trifecta of high quality machines all rolled up in one tidy (and pretty) package.  It’s also smart and on auto mode will turn itself on and off based on desired temp or air quality.

Aesthetically pleasing – As mentioned above, it’s pretty.  Comes in some other colors but the white is sleek, classic and blends in to my home aesthetic perfectly.

Stinky dog, burnt toast, unseen allergens?  The Dyson pure hot + cool not only warms and cools the room, it also purifies the air.

Features

Dyson Link App – Allows you to control, schedule, monitor and customize your setting through your phone from anywhere.

Info Menu (button on remote and in app) – Information is monitored and stored.  Use menu to scroll through and get info on air quality, temperature, humidity and filter levels.  If a pollutant causes air quality to drop a symbol will show on the LCD screen on the front of the machine.

Auto Mode – Sensors will adjust turning machine on/off according to air quality.   This works!  The dog farted and the machine sensed the “poor air quality” and kicked on the purifier fan immediately!  It ran automatically until the sensors gauged “normal” air quality then turned itself off.  No more need to “blame it on the dog” ha ha

Heating/Cooling – Set the required room temperature.  Machine will pause when desired temp is met and kick back on when room temp goes up or down.

Oscillation – Will circulate air from 0-350 degrees!!  No other fan does this that I’m aware of!

Air Flow – Increase or decrease the airflow speed from 1 – 10.

Sleep Timer – The machine will turn off automatically after the selected amount of time.

Night Mode – In this mode the machine will continue to monitor and respond to changes in air quality and temperature but only use quiet settings.

How it's saving us money

Our home has three floors with just under 7,000 square feet of living space.  Our two furnaces work overtime in the winter months to warm the entire house.  This results in an average gas & electric bill of $500 a month.  Now that our four kids are all in college (three out of state) keeping a 7000 square foot house at a balmy 72 degrees in January/February is pretty unnecessary and wasteful.  Especially when Rick and I spend most of our time in one or two small areas in the house.  Since having the DYSON pure hot + cool unit I’ve lowered the upstairs thermostat (where the kids empty bedrooms are) to 65 degrees and set the main floor thermostat to 68 degrees.   With the DYSON set to heat (I use the mobile app and set up the 7 day scheduler) and the rooms we spend our time in are cozy and warm when we get home from work in the evenings.  We no longer have to heat the entire house to be comfortable in the rooms we are actually living in.  So far, last months bill was over $200 less than the same month last year!  At this rate, the DYSON pure heat + cool will have paid for itself before spring!

What’s wrong with this picture?  I needed a photo for my Instagram feed (@tami.in.between) and wanted to show the unit clearly so it’s turned around 180 degrees.  The heat/fan is blowing in the opposite direction of me so even though I’m staging the pic to look like the warmth is coming my way, it’s actually blowing out into the room away from me.  LOL
