HOME HOLIDAY DECOR

I finally finished putting up all the holiday decorations around the house this week  Woo hoo!  One more item checked off the to-do list!  I feel like I’m behind but I think that is just the weight of knowing Christmas is next week and I still have work, shopping, wrapping and cleaning to do this week.  Ugh!  I thought being an empty nester would be boring.  Boy was I wrong!  The past year and a half has been a complete blur and flown by with barely any free time.  I guess I can’t complain with a year dealing with COVID it has been nice to be employed and have a fun hobby (the blog) to keep me busy.  Although I’ve been worn pretty thin at times, I always manage to find the time to do things I really enjoy like decorate the house.  Check out my home holiday decor this year.

Had we done Christmas cards this year (we didn’t) this is the outfit I would have worn.  Casual, comfy with a pop of tartan.  So instead of Christmas cards in this outfit I did Christmas decorations in this outfit.

Outside

Starting with the outside, the front of the house has the same decor I put up every year.   Several 20 inch outdoor wreathes on all the windows HERE, a 60″ extra large lighted wreath in the big front window HERE .  The porch is decorated with a lighted Christmas tree, two 4 ft lighted lamp posts lanterns HERE and several faux poinsettias for filler.

Sunroom

Back inside I made the sunroom into a white winter wonderland with several flocked trees in varying heights HERE  HERE  HERE  HERE  HERE and HERE.  I really love the two pencil trees I set up in the corners because they are tall (7.5 ft tall) and skinny so they don’t take up a lot of room but give the room some elevation in the corners HERE.   I’ve also used plastic white wicker tree collars for the base (comes in 4 pieces that magnet together so easy to store) HERE.    I’ve hung snowflakes from the ceiling HERE (I also used these same snowflakes to shove in the Christmas trees as decor).  I’ve thrown several white pillows throughout the room and white throw blankets.  My favorite white throws (I have in three rooms of my house) HERE and HERE.  I also have these snowflake pillow covers that are really cute high quality (cheaper then buying and storing a new pillow) HERE.  The room also has a basket of fake snowballs to throw around HERE, some white houses that are really popular for shelves and mantles.  I found mine at the dollar store a couple months ago (shared on my story at the time…watch my IG for deals!)  Here are some other cute options HERE and HERE.  Lastly, the white winter wonderland tablescape is in this room.  Blog about the tablescapes I did this year HERE.

Entryway

The entryway holiday decor highlights a new addition to our home, The Queen.  AKA the Anthropologie 7 ft gleaming primrose mirror in gold HERE was just delivered!  I decorated the mirror by surrounding it with the Williams Sonoma chinoiserie planter set HERE that I filled with faux Christmas trees and faux poinsettias!

Dining Room

The dining room has the 2nd of three tablescapes set up with COVID safety precautions.  For lots more pictures of all three tables on that blog go HERE.  I call this table the Tartan Table.  The chair pillows were Costco finds HERE.  They were only $10 in store if you can still find them.  Cheaper than online.  I also set up simple holiday decor on the side table.

Family Room

The family room is home to our main Christmas tree that is adorned with ornaments the kids have made over the years along with ones we’ve picked up on every family vacation or trip we have taken over the years.  It’s my favorite tree because of all the memories it holds.  I have shared on my stories about this Samsung smart TV that is under $400!  I absolutely love the ambient mode function.  It has the ability to match the wall behind it so I don’t have to stare at a big black box on my fireplace mantle!  Genius! HERE.  Pillows are from Costco.  Tartan fur edge tree skirt and blanket from Michael’s HERE and HERE.

Kitchen

The kitchen decor is pretty simple.  Placed stainless steel Christmas trees with wood stars on the countertops.  These were purchased from Home Goods a few years ago.  The breakfast nook has the third tablescape set up in a Christmas three theme.

J Crew Christmas Tree

I’ve been saving these boxes for a while to pull off this tree!  I wanted the tree to be “realistic” in height.  With the large J Crew shopping bag at the top with the tissue sticking out I have almost a 9 ft Christmas tree made of all J Crew and Madewell boxes.  The J Crew Christmas tree is Rick’s favorite holiday decoration this year!  I told him I could have bought a Balsam Hill Christmas tree this year but opted for this one instead which was probably much cheaper!  LOL

Poinsettias

I used red (outside) and white (inside) faux pointsettias to decorate as filler this year.  I bought the small ones from Michael’s ($4) and the large ones from Olly’s ($8).  I replaced the green foil wrappers with burlap and white ribbon that better matched my home aesthetic.
