North Face Winter Coat Review

This week I’ve noticed it’s still daylight at 6:30 pm!  A great sign the days are getting longer and spring is around the corner.  However, here in Louisville, we know that there’s still a few more weeks of cold and wet weather that we must endure.  Now is the ideal time to buy a new winter coat!  Stores are discounting their winter stock to make room for spring essentials.  So not only can you get a great deal on a winter coat right now that you can wear for the next few weeks of cold and wet weather, you can also get ahead of the game and be ready for next winter!  One favorite winter “go to” coat of mine is from North Face.  Here is a review of it and some other fave winter North Face coats….and guess what?!  They are all on sale right now!

WHAT I’M WEARING: North Face Mossbud reversible insulated parka in urban navy size small here.  J Crew Factory gingham classic button down shirt in boy fit size small here.  Banana Republic Factory volume sleeve crew neck sweater size xs here.  J Crew 10″ high rise toothpick jeans in color arctic wash here.  Cole Haan Nubuck suede tall riding boots in beige.  Similar pair here and similar less expensive pair (under $20) here.

The North Face Mossbud Reversible Insulated Parka (my fave)

Two coats for the price of one!  This is a reversible coat.  The insulated parka has a wind resistant and water repellent outside and a silky, fur like fleece inside.  It is a standard woman’s fit (slightly cut in at waist).  Coat is lightweight and not at all bulky.  It also has an attached hood for added warmth.  It’s warmth is comparable to its weight.  Not the warmest North Face coat I own but perfect for Louisville’s mild winters.  This has been my go to coat the past couple weeks with the cold temps and rain here.  Fits as expected.  I’m wearing urban navy in a size small.  Regular price is $179 but on sale now for $107.40!!  Find it on Amazon here , Macy’s here or at Nordstrom here!

The North Face Metropolis III Hooded Down Parka

This one is for my northern MI, WI and Chicago friends (Hi Amanda…I know you were waiting for this post!) (FYI – She lives near Green Bay and needs this coat!)  This is the big daddy of warmth.  Feels like you are wearing a blanket!  It’s long, it’s quilted and it’s made of goose down so it’s cozy and super warm.  It’s also water repellent to keep you dry from neck to knees!  Has a snap away hood and standard fit.  Regular price is $289 but available now for $173.40 at Nordstrom here, Amazon here and Macy’s here.

The North Face ThermoBall Eco Hooded Parka

I was torn between getting this parka and the Mossbud.  This parka is very lightweight but still very warm.  So lightweight that it’s practically weightless!  It is made from recycled nylon and has ThermoBall insulation technology for warmth.  Has an attached hood and an interior bungee to cinch the waist.  Standard fit.  Although the lightweight design with the technology for warmth was appealing, I decided to go with the Mossbud because it was reversible, I don’t need the extra warmth technology in Louisville and I liked the stitching on the Mossbud better then the stitching on the ThermoBall.  Regular price for this parka is $230 but on sale now for $138 at Nordstrom here .

The North Face Campshire Fleece Wrap Jacket

Fleece coats have been really popular this winter.  No surprise North Face has a plush, teddy bear style to compete in this arena.  This one has over sized pockets and a very over sized hood (possibly too big unless you like big hoods).  The overall fit of the jacket is pretty roomy with a one button closure in front.  Perfect for running errands around town.  Many say it runs big but it is an over sized fitting style.  Regular price is $179 and on sale now for $107.40 at Zappo’s here and Nordstrom here .  I love this jacket in the vintage white but would worry about it getting too dirty and dingy looking.  The garnet red is just as fab.

Reign on 550 Fill Power Down Hooded Parka

I’ve got my eye on this coat for my next ski jacket.  It’s the perfect coat for when it’s snowing or just brutally cold.  It has a three-piece hood, a bungee-cinch waist and an ultra-durable exterior.  You’ll have this coat for ever and when you need it, you will be glad you have it.  Regular price is $279 but on sale now for $167.40 at Nordstrom here .

Now is the perfect time to get the best deals on a winter coat!  With this North Face winter coat review be prepared to go out and get yourself a great deal on an even greater winter coat!
