I decided to attempt the over range vent hood DIY install myself after I received a few quotes to hire it done for me. All the quotes came in around $500. So I had 500 reasons to try to install it on my own even though I had never done it before. I’m fairly handy and although I didn’t know exactly what I was doing I figured if I’m going to hire someone else to do it for me then I may as well attempt to do it myself first. The very worst predicament is that I just can’t figure it out and have to hire someone anyway. I have a 50/50 shot at saving the money and doing it myself or at least try to.
