If you’ve been following my Instagram stories you know that I’ve decided to keep all the honey oak trim throughout my home. Say it ain‘t so! My original plan was to paint all the wood trim throughout my entire house to a clean and crisp white. Unfortunately, that’s not going to happen. Why? I have 15,000 reasons why. 15K is the average cost from contractors to paint all the wood trim and doors in the house! Gulp. So I’ve had a change of heart and decided that the (orange) honey oak wood throughout my home is staying. On the bright side, so are all those Benjamin’s. So why all the trim talk when this is a Pillow Refresh blog? Because a pillow refresh is where I started with embracing the honey oak trim. I’ve accepted it and decided I need to stop fighting the wood color and instead to highlight it! Yup, that’s right…I’m embracing the orange wood! To begin, I’ve brought in a completely new color scheme that works with the wood color instead of against it. Gone are the greens, grays and chocolate browns. Now I’m bringing in the colors white, navy and gold. Definitely a more complimentary palette to go with orange (the wood color). To ensure the new colors will work with my existing decor and the wood color I have brought in many new pillows for a refresh. So far I love the direction I’m going in with this new color scheme. Dare I say that by the time I’m finished with all the updates that I may even love the honey oak wood? Now that will be an impressive pillow refresh!
