My style predictions for 2020 Ankle Bracelet

Predicted Style Trends for 2020

I’m no fashionista.  However, I’m an avid reader, researcher and observer.  I’m always looking out for what style, color and trends are coming down the pike.  Here are a few of my predicted style trends for 2020.

Polka Dots

We probably all have some items in our closets that already fall in line with this trend.  Although, black and white polka dots seem to be the favorite.  Vibrant dots will be in the mix as well.  Check out this long sleeve drapey popover top in polka dots by JCrew.  50% off with code MONDAY.

Ankle Bracelets

Initial necklaces are phasing out and the ankle bracelet is going to have its time to shine in 2020.  Check out this cute disc charm ankle bracelet set from Forever 21 ($5).  I also love the Treasure Layer Anklet from Free People.  It’s three rows of mismatched colors and beads (only $20).  So boho & chic!   My favorite is the Tabi Anklet by Kendra Scott.  Dainty but impactful ($55).  This has gone on sale since I wrote this.  It’s now on final sale for just $40!

Take a Bow

Bows were big in 2019.  I’m guessing (and hoping) the trend sticks through 2020.  Check out my blog posted a couple weeks ago “Bow Tie Fashion for Woman” with a few different bow tie fashion looks from my own closet.

Statement Sleeves

Gone are the bell sleeves and in are the statement sleeves.  Mostly the “puffed” version.  You may already have some of the puff sleeve tops in your closet as this look started trending in 2019.  I don’t think this style is leaving in 2020 so hold on to what you have!  Some of these mock neck puff sleeve options from Express would be great for the holidays.

Mint Green

Pink is still going to be big in 2020.  However, mint green is going to become more popular this next year.  It is a versatile shade and will look good on most skin tones.  I’m already planning my Derby week outfits for May!

Capes

This JCrew poncho scarf in Black Watch tartan is cozy, preppy and warm.  Made from a wool blend.  Can wear it draped over shoulders or around neck.  Although I don’t know if it really qualifies as a Cape.  This one definitely does from JCrew Factory.  It is also wool blend.  On sale for $99!  Look at those toggles!  Also has pockets!!

Lingerie-Like Looks

Do you agree, since Katie Holmes was pictured in that over sized off shoulder sweater with her matching bra sticking out, this look is everywhere?  I have a feeling it’s going to get bigger in 2020.  I say “OH HE!! NO” to this style trend.  Not for me, you, or any of our kids please.  I am already nauseated by the way kids dress for Forecastle (a huge weekend music fest in Louisville) in looks only appropriate for the Frederick’s of Hollywood catalog.  I’ll be cringing if this look becomes mainstream.  No links because, well, just NO.

I guess we will see this time next year if my predictions were a hit or a miss.  I’m hoping the latter style trend will be a miss.  The rest, I can get on board with for 2020.  Let me know if you agree or disagree with some of my predictions!
