It’s that time of year that we spice up our coffees. Don’t forget to spice up your outfit too. As we head into the winter months it’s easy to let our look become a little tired and drab. Outfits become mostly black, brown, gray and more black. When dressing in neutrals or monochrome this time of year, add interest to your style by incorporating these 6 ways to spice up your look. By adding a pop of color to your outfit you can get 6 different looks with just one outfit.
Grab a colorful belt – Don’t grab your go-to brown or black belt you always wear. Instead grab a blue belt and cinch it at your waist with a black sweater dress or a red belt with black pants and top. A colorful belt will draw attention to your waistline and it’s a functional accessory.
A purse that pops – when the outfit is lacking something, add a pop of color. A bright, punchy colorful handbag will spice up any monochrome outfit. Shown here a Kate Spade Red Ostrich Wellesley Quinn tote.
Scarfs – Scarfs are fun and flirty without being gaudy. Wear a bright, colorful neck scarf with a plain outfit to add that missing spark. Can dress scarves up or down. Shown here ready for the office. Pair same scarf with a white button down top and some jeans for a more casual look. Adding a colorful scarf will instantly elevate your look to the next level.
Gloves – Add some spice to your plain outfit by grabbing a pair of gloves. It’s the perfect time of year to use the accessory to your advantage. These pink bow accent Isaac Mizrahi for Target suede driving gloves pop with the all black outfit. They are delicate but make an impact and super cute!
Lips – Probably the easiest and least expensive way to spice up your style and outfit is to put it on your lips. A bold, bright lip will spice up any outfit. Grab the red or hot pink stick instead! Color shown here is Lancome Color Design Red Stiletto Cream.
Wear a colorful hat – You can literally top off your outfit with a colorful hat. Hats are great personal style statements with so many different styles, shapes and colors to choose from. Plus hats are warm and can hide unkempt or unwashed hair in a bind. (OK so obv this is not a hat I would wear day to day but other than a BIG Derby hat, it’s the ONLY colorful hat I could find in my house that would work for this post so I’m going with it! ha ha).
