Vary texture instead of color
Keeping the same color palette but varying texture of pillows makes the space visually interesting without the mess. Choose any one color and experiment with patterns and textures.
Don't skimp on size
Professional designers use pillows over 20″ in width and prefer 22″ to 24″ pillows. So the bigger the better. Larger pillows make a room look more luxe. Keep in mind a couple large pillows look much better than several small ones scattered about.
To chop or not to chop
You know the pillow chop I’m referring to. The karate chop into the top of the pillow that puts a top indent into the pillow. Personally, I am not a chopper. Whether you chop or not is totally a personal preference thing. If you are on the fence about the chop look, mix it up and chop some but not others. Regardless, it’s completely personal preference.
Odd numbers are best
Group pillows in odd numbers. Usually 3 or 5 works best. Place 3 pillows in corner of couch or 5 pillows on the bed. Decorating in odd numbers provides balance in a room.
