Mother’s day is Sunday. If mom is a coffee or tea drinker I’ve got you covered for a great gift idea! The Ember mug. Rick bought me this mug for my 50th birthday and I first thought, “do I really need another blue tooth enabled electronic gadget and app to figure out?” After using the cup for less than a week I quickly realized, yes. Yes, I do need this gadget in my life.
If you’ve been following me on the socials or my blog you know I don’t sit still for long. I’m constantly in between work, home updates, DIY projects and shopping (naming my blog Tami in Between makes sooo much sense, right)! I cannot even tell you how many cups of coffee I’ve made, sat down somewhere, forgotten about and came back to for a swallow and got a mouthful of cold yucky coffee. Not any more! The Ember mug keeps my hot beverage at a precise temperature of my choosing (no more burning my mouth on too hot coffee either)! Not only does it control the temperature of my coffee or tea, it does so much more. The Ember mug is not just smart. It’s genius! Is the ember mug worth it? Yup. Every penny.

Design
Modern and minimalistic. Comes in white and black with a matching coaster (that doubles as a charging station). Has the feel of a ceramic mug with some weight to it as the battery is built into the bottom of the device. Overall it’s aesthetically pleasing and goes well with my décor. I leave my Ember mug displayed on my counter next to my SMEG coffee pot when not in use.
Set Up & App
Easy and seamless. First time use I charged the mug (place on charging coaster and plug in the included AC power adapter). Once charged I paired with phone by downloading the app. The app easily guided me through the set up process. I am not at all techy and it was a very easy step by step process. In the app you can adjust your hot drink’s temperature preference between 120-145 degrees (default for coffee is 135). The app will indicate when your ideal temperature has been reached. If your phone isn’t nearby the LED light on the cup does that too! The app also has pre-set recommended temperatures for black tea, green tea, coffee, cappuccinos and lattes (just tap for what drink you have in the mug). For the tea drinkers, the app has a tea timer for steeping. You can also connect the Ember app to the health app on your phone to record how much caffeine you’ve been consuming.
Does it really work?
Yup! It’s convenient too! Easy to change my preferred temp based on what I was drinking. Especially when I add creamer that cools down my coffee. So easy to tweak up the temp. Plus, my coffee stays my preferred temperature for over an hour! No more warming up cold coffee in the microwave every time I walk away or get distracted.

It goes into a sleep mode when the mug is empty or not in use. You do not have to turn it on and off which is convenient!
Cost
It’s not cheap. Retailing around $100. It does successfully keep hot beverages to your perfect temperature and it’s easy to use and stylish too! I’d say it’s worth every penny considering the design, easy of use and functionality. It would definitely make a wonderful gift for that coffee or tea drinking busy mama in your life.
