It’s the beginning of March. Nearing the day I pack up my winter sweaters to make room for spring attire. However, yesterday I woke up to snow on the ground. The temps in Louisville haven’t gotten over 40 in the last few days. Therefore, my sweaters are getting their last chance wears this past week. In particular this J Crew cable knit balloon sleeve sweater.
For my preppy inbetweener style I paired it with a Vinyard Vines chambray denim button down, some skinny jeans and booties. The sweater is thick and warm. Made from a merino wool blend (machine washable – wash and lay flat to dry). With layering I was plenty warm on this sunny yet chilly day. The fit is boxy and wide. I bought it in an XS which is a size down from my regular size . I was hoping by ordering it in a smaller size it would be less boxy. It is still wide and boxy only shorter. In hindsight, I should have stuck with my own size (S). I think the XS is a bit too short on me. The classic knit texture and balloon sleeves gives this sweater a modern look.
This sweater pairs well with high waist jeans. Wear layered as shown or without layering and a front french tuck. Comes in 5 colors. It has a higher price point then most of my other sweaters. However, it is merino wool and thicker (and warmer) than most of my other sweaters. This is a sweater to watch out for to go on sale to get a great deal on in the next couple weeks. Stores are rolling out spring apparel and will be putting on clearance the winter stuff, this sweater included.
