Leather Jacket Style

Leather Jacket Style

I used to think that leather jackets were only worn by edgy millennial’s, biker babes, The Fonz and Vinnie Barbarino (my 20 something kids are going to call me and say “who even are these people?” 😊)

Well, move over Henry and John because this inbetweener just purchased her first leather jacket this past fall (a black one) and was shocked to realize how stylish and versatile it was.  It quickly became my “go to” jacket whenever I opened the coat closet to grab an outer layer for fall and winter.  It is so versatile, no matter the outfit I wear (casual or dressy).  Wearing the leather jacket makes me feel chic and stylish with a touch of gritty.  A welcoming change from my usual pea coat and preppy style.  The leather jacket is so versatile and stylish I purchased a second leather jacket (this time in a neutral color) and was equally impressed with the versatility (possibly the neutral is more versatile than the black)!  I find myself reaching for the leather jackets more and more often.  So I was wrong, leather jacket style is not just for the “yutes”.  Leather jacket style is ageless and is a must have for anyone of any age.

WHY GO LEATHER

Leather jackets are cool and so chic!  It is a must have closet piece to bring a little sassy and classy into your wardrobe.  Leather jacket style is a fall and winter wardrobe must.  Why?  Because a good leather jacket goes with everything!  It can be incorporated into any outfit you pull together from your closet.   You can pair one with simple jeans and a tee or glam it up over a skirt or dress.  When picking out a leather jacket for your closet, the key is to have a leather jacket that is more classy and chic then edgy and bikerish.  This will be more versatile to wear with any outfit.  If you splurge for real leather and choose a classic coat, it will last you a lifetime.

GO CASUAL

The easiest and most casual way to wear a leather jacket is with a light -colored top or sweater and a pair of jeans.  Want to bring in a classier vibe and tone down the roughness a bit?  Then balance the jacket with a feminine top or silky blouse and a pair of trousers with a wedge shoe.  This will be a modern chic contrast with the edgy jacket creating a perfectly age appropriate style.

DRESS IT UP

Day or night, leather jacket style is on point.  For an evening look try layering the leather jacket over a sheath dress in a dark color, a midi dress or a skirt and blouse or sweater combo.  Also, keep in mind that basic black leather jackets are the most classic look but don’t limit yourself to just that color.  A leather jacket in brown or tan is every bit as chic and probably even more versatile and dressy than its black counterpart.
