5 weekend packing tips

Weekend Packing Tips

I’m a weekend warrior but I pack like a barbarian.

Ask anyone and they will tell you, the thing I hate to do most is pack .  This is unfortunate considering this fall, Rick and I have spent most of our weekends on the road traveling to Libby’s Field Hockey games.   Here are 5 weekend packing tips on packing that I’ve used this fall in preparing for our weekend trips.

  1. Start with lightweight luggage.  I usually pack a nylon duffel bag instead of a hard case because it’s lighter and easier to squeeze into tight spots when packing a vehicle.  Here is one from Target and the same nylon weekender duffel from Coach that I have (pictured) that is sold on Amazon (FYI – I saw this exact bag on eBay for only $30!
  2. Make a list.  You know you won’t remember Friday what you told yourself on Wednesday to bring.  Make a list!  Write down everything you don’t want to forget and before you walk out the door make sure everything has been checked off .  I can’t tell you how many times I’ve forgotten sunglasses or medicine because I didn’t have a dang list!
  3. Start at the bottom.  Pack heaviest items first: shoes, cosmetic bag, flat iron, etc.  The weight distribution with the heavy stuff on the bottom makes carrying it much easier.
  4. Bring Downey Wrinkle Releaser I’ve bragged about this stuff in other posts.  It works!  I would rather forget my mascara then forget the WR.
  5. Keep it fresh.  Place dryer sheets in your bag to keep everything smelling good.  When your cramming in shoes and dirty clothes with your clean, the dryer sheets do their job.
