DIY MIRROR HACK (AND ANOTHER BATHROOM UPDATE)

Another weekend and another bathroom update!  Been helping my sister in law Suzy with some room updates in her home.  So far, we have completely transformed two of her bathrooms for under $200 each!  Check out the bathroom we transformed last week HERE.  Most recently, we updated the master bathroom.  In this room we did some DIY, found some great 2nd hand finds (huge score on the vanity light) and also “shopped the house” for decor.  All three are musts for doing a room redo and design on a dime.  One of the coolest updates in the master bathroom was a DIY mirror hack project that made her existing mirror go from drab to fab and it only cost $7!  Check it out and some other before and after pics from the master bath update.

Before

When Suzy and I talked about updating her master bathroom she had three thoughts.  She wanted a modern farmhouse theme, she wanted to keep the picture her son had drawn when he was little and she wanted to keep the mirror.  Other than that, she gave me full approval to do what I wanted with the space.  The first step was painting the walls and cabinets.   We decided on colors by using paint she already had (Sherwin Williams Aesthetic White on walls (was left over from bathroom update last week) and Behr Gateway Gray on the cabinets (paint left over from painting her sons room last year).  This was a big money saver as no expense was needed for any painting!

After

Corner decor and farmhouse signs all purchased from 2nd hand stores
Basket was on counter and now is inverted and used as a shelf on the wall. The picture above it is the childhood artwork of her sons
The runner rug and towels ended up being the only thing purchased new for the update
The old fashioned Ball jars were found in the sitting room off her kitchen on a shelf. This is the perfect room and spot to highlight the antique jars
The stacking bowls are a 2nd hand store find and ties in the rug perfectly. The basket is from another area of the home.

Most of the decor was purchased at 2nd hand stores and a few items were taken from other areas of the house.  The only new purchase was the runner rug and some towels.

MVP of the room

The MVP of the room has to be the DIY mirror hack.  The existing mirror was something Suzy wanted to keep in the room.  To update the mirror and make it match a farmhouse theme we put together a couple trim pieces of wood (my BIL
Wayne did the carpentry), Suzy painted and with double sided velcro we attached the frame to the mirror.  Wallah!  A “brand new” perfectly matched and updated mirror!  Entire wood frame DIY project cost only $7!   With the 2nd hand vanity light that I found for $15 this entire area of the bathroom was completely transformed for under $25!

Before the DIY mirror hack and vanity light update
My BIL Wayne put the trim pieces together to frame the existing mirror. Suzy painted and with some velcro we were ready to transform the old mirror
Using this double sided velcro we were able to easily attach the DIY mirror frame to the existing mirror
After! For less than $25 for the light and mirror trim this bathroom was transformed!
